In moments of deepest crisis, finding someone who truly listens can make all the difference. James’ Place is a lifeline for men in suicidal crisis, offering free, face-to-face support in a calm, non-clinical setting. With centres across the UK, the charity is breaking down barriers and providing hope — helping men find their way back from the edge with care, compassion, and understanding.

Founded by Clare Milford Haven and her family in memory of her son James Wentworth-Stanley, who tragically took his own life in 2006, James’ Place was born from a mother’s determination to create something positive out of unimaginable loss. Since opening its first centre in Liverpool in 2018, the charity has expanded to London, Newcastle, and soon Birmingham, with a fifth centre planned for 2027, each offering free, face-to-face therapy to men in suicidal crisis. At James’ Place, trained therapists work quickly to provide tailored, one-to-one support — helping men understand their feelings, find new ways to cope, and move away from danger.

Anyone who needs help, or is worried about someone else, can refer themselves or a loved one directly via the charity’s website at www.jamesplace.org.uk. Referrals are open to men aged 18 and over in the areas where centres operate, and support is provided free of charge.
