For the 16th edition of BlueSkyFriday Favourites, we sit down with Jessica Clarke, the model-turned-wellness entrepreneur behind Mother Made.
Jessica Clarke's journey pivots between high fashion and holistic health. Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, she has Maori ancestry and draws deeply on that cultural connection in her work. Her modelling career took off early. She has walked for iconic houses like Calvin Klein, Armani, Dolce & Gabbana and in 2011 became the first New Zealander to appear in a Victoria’s Secret show.
Her time in fashion exposed her to demanding schedules, challenges that ultimately steered her toward natural health solutions.
In April 2021, alongside her longtime friend Emily Blanchett, Jessica launched Mother Made — a functional mushroom wellness brand rooted in quality, transparency and Maori worldview.
Inspired by her personal experience with sleep disruption and her desire to find natural, potent alternatives, Jessica and Emily designed their formulations without fillers or additives.
Jessica sees mushrooms not merely as supplements, but as bridges to reconnect us with nature, heritage and well-being. She positions Mother Made as a modern wellness brand that honours indigenous wisdom while meeting the demands of today’s world.
