Favourite Charity
Time Givers. Not only was this wonderful charity founded by my dear friend Kate Deighton, but my children absolutely love taking part in their volunteering experiences. It’s an inspiring organisation with a real, tangible impact on local communities.
Favourite Podcast
Mel Robbins. I know she is everyone’s favourite at the moment, and Let Them is a book I reference daily, but I particularly love the topics she explores. A recent episode reflected on the idea of what your older, wiser self might say to you in your final moments, touching on people’s greatest regrets and how we might avoid them. It offered a fascinating reminder of how much energy we devote to worries that, in the end, matter far less than we think.
Favourite Yoga Class
I make sure to do at least twenty minutes of yoga every day. I often use the Boho Beautiful app, her guidance is excellent, and the sessions are filmed in the most beautiful locations around the world. My favourite yoga class of all, however, takes place during the summer on Nantucket Island: a 7:30 a.m. class at the Bandstand with the wonderful and wise Bettina. The Bandstand looks out over the lawns of the White Elephant, with Children’s Beach just to the right. It is, without question, the most peaceful and restorative way to begin a day on the island.
Favourite Travel Destination
Paris. I love how close Paris feels, and the ease of simply taking a train without having to go through an airport makes it all the more appealing. My mother used to take me there when I was little, and I now often bring my own children. I take them to the same places I visited as a child: Le Deux Magots, the Musée d’Orsay to see the great masters, and long walks around Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It feels wonderfully nostalgic to share those moments and memories with them.
Favourite Book
Wuthering Heights. I studied English Literature at university, and Wuthering Heights has always held a special place in my heart. There is something uniquely atmospheric about the story and I try to revisit it at least once a year, especially when I feel the need for a little escape. There is something wonderfully grounding about returning to a book that has meant so much for so long.
