Lucy Kent originally trained in portraiture but felt a strong pull toward the landscapes of her childhood countryside after moving from the city, and she taught herself to capture her surroundings in paint.
Working in oil, both en plein air and from the studio, her paintings are a direct response to the environment, inspired by shifting light, colour, and the interplay between high skies and wide landscapes. Combining brush and knife techniques, her work is energetic, vibrant, and immersive.
In 2020, Lucy founded a mutually supporting artist collective of over 100 artists worldwide, raising funds for various charities. To date, the collective has raised £350,000 and was awarded the Points of Light Award from Downing Street in recognition of its community work.
Lucy is available for commissions of favourite views and places, and she also offers a collection of limited edition prints via her website. A new body of work inspired by a recent trip to India will be released soon, with Instagram serving as a place to view her latest creations in the meantime.
Alongside her practice as a painter, Lucy enjoys helping people source and purchase art for their homes. She takes on a select number of consultancy projects each year, assisting clients in building or expanding their art collections.
